Theme:"Walking The Path Of The Humble and The Lowly" First Scripture Reading: Hebrew 13: 1-8, 15-16 Luke 14:1, 7-14 talks about radical hospitality that goes way beyond making sure that all the guests at the dinner party are comfortable and well fed. There are responsibilities for guests and host. A guest should never assume that an invitation to a banquet is a sign of honour or special status. Just be happy to be invited, and don't act at the party as if you were the reason for its being. Take a back seat, and let others shine. People will remember humility longer than they do egoism. A host should never seek to invite people with the assumption that they will return the favour. Try inviting those who could never offer the feast you can. Show hospitality for its own sake, and not for rewards. This is your invitation to our service on Sunday. No expectations from us in return. |

Theme:"The Activity of Reshaping For Us" First Scripture Reading: Psalm 139 (#861 in Voices United) In Jeremiah 18:1-11, the prophet goes down to the potter's house, and watches the artisan working at the wheel. Jeremiah notices that whenever a piece of pottery turned out imperfect, the potter would collapse the clay, and make it into something else. Christians often talk about how we are made new in the love of Christ, but that implies that we are willing to allow that love to reshape and remould us into someone else. Are we really willing to collapse our lives, turn them over the potter, and see what the hand of God on the wheel of live recreates? Come and explore that question with us. |

The Men's Club of Queenswood United Church has it's annual retreat on this weekend, so the minister will be with them, rather than in the pulpit. We are pleased to welcome as Worship Leader for the day, Marta Nuijten, a Lay Licensed Worship Leader with the Ottawa Presbytery. Nursery, Sunday School and Youth Church start up again on this Sunday. |

Theme:"Real People, Real Faith" (by Judy Wilson, published by Gathering Summer 2008)Scripture Reading: Exodus 1:8 - 2:10 On this Sunday, we will be putting on a drama based on the scripture passage Exodus 1:8 -2:10. The drama begins in a modern day home, where a teenage girl is trying to get through her homework assignment on the birth of Moses and the actions of the brave women around him to keep it alive. The girl finds it all boring, and would rather read her teen magazines, but the story comes alive around her, and she gets to see how two midwives, a mother, a sister, and an Egyptian Princess act to prevent the tyranny of a Pharaoh in order to save a toddler's life. We hope you'll come and join us. |

Theme:"Stewardship Sunday"First Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 32: 1-3a, 6-15 In Jeremiah 32:1-15, the prophet knows the time has arrived when Israel will be defeated in battle by the Babylonians, and those who survive will be exiled, relocated far from their homeland. In the midst of this despair, God tells Jeremiah to purchase a piece of land and bury the deed of the property on the land, to serve as a symbol that houses, fields and vineyards will be brought on the land in the future. When we are at the end of our rope, and the future looks bleak, we need courageous people who in the love of God bring hope, and dare to say we can rebuild our lives once again. Perhaps we can be that people for you. |
