Sunday
December 4
10:00 AM

Theme:"An Unusual Messenger"
First Scripture Reading: Isaiah 40: 1-11, 33-37
Second Scripture Reading: Mark 1: 1-8

When God sends messengers to the earth, they often come in angelic form. This cannot be said about John the Baptist. He's more of a desert nomad living by the Jordan River. Abundance is not a part of his lifestyle, which probably is a result of his home address. His provisions come from what the wilderness provides: camel's hair for clothing, wild locust and honey the main courses. Most of us wouldn't come anywhere near this guy, but God's people come to him to be baptized. He's promises an opportunity for people to repent of their sins, and turn back to God, and receive the forgiveness that makes them whole and ready for the long awaited Messiah. John the Baptist is the messenger of second chances and new life. When's the last time you received that offer. Come, and know that it is completely yours. All are welcome.

Sunday
December 11
10:00 AM

Theme:"Garlands and Gladness and Praise, Oh My!"
First Scripture Reading: Psalm 126: #850 Voices United,
Second Scripture Reading: Isaah 61: 1-4, 8-11

Isaiah talks about the transformative power of God's Spirit when it comes upon us. The prophet hints at a long and difficult struggle by God's people, and the time has come for their mourning to end. No more will their lives be like ashes that are easily blown away. They will know the blessing and joy of the Lord, wrongdoing ended, justice and love brought forth in its wake. They will be compensated for misdeeds done against them. Is this possible? Is it real for us now, as it was for the Israelites way back then? Why don't you come and see for yourself? All are welcome.

Candle Lighting and Communion Christmas Eve Service

Theme:"They Went With Haste"
First Scripture Reading: Isaiah 9: 2-7:
Second Scripture Reading: Luke 2: 1-14, 15-20

This service is for all who just love the idea of a late night Christmas Eve that welcomes Christmas Day. There are traditional Christmas Carols, there is candle light, there is communion, and you are invited to come with haste, just as the shepherds left the fields where they lived and work to come and see the Christ Child. Leave your homes, your busy lives, and the stress of the season; leave everything that burdens you, and come with haste to join us on Christmas Eve to welcome the blessed babe, the Holy Child, and all the peace and love he brings. Hope to see you there. All are welcome to come.
